About Ken's Flower Cafe
Ken’s Flower Cafe, established in 1977, is a family owned and operated business located in Auburndale, MA. Founder Ken Leary began working for his grandfather, a wholesale florist in the Boston Flower Exchange, over 45 years ago. While in college, Ken started his own business selling carnations outside of Our Lady’s Parish in Newton, after weekly services -- and he’s been at it ever since.
Ken soon became one of the first vendors to create a successful sidewalk flower shop outside the city of Boston. Over time, three buckets of carnations (only 25 cents a piece!) grew into a full car load, then a van load, and finally a trailer full of fresh cut flowers for sale. By 1988, Ken, along with his wife Andrea' and family, owned and operated 3 flower shops located in Burlington, Natick/Wellesley and Newton.
Though pleased by this success, Ken felt the growth in the number of stores came at the sacrifice of personal customer service and affordable, quality flowers –- the premises upon which he built his business. To keep costs low, Ken began to consolidate operations and closed all but his Newton store. To this day, Ken’s prices very rarely increase.
Ken and Andrea' continue to offer flower delivery and floral design services to Newton, Natick, Wellesley, and beyond. Their website, Kensflowercafe.com, offers you a convenient way to shop online; or stop in at Ken’s Newton location during flexible store hours and pick up a beautiful bouquet for that special someone, or for yourself!
